본문은 전화통화의 일부분이다. 상대방이 찾는 사람이 통화중이어서 전화를 받기 곤란한 상황에는 ‘I’m sorry.’라고 먼저 정중하게 말하고 난 후 ‘but he is on another line.’이라고 말하면 된다. 여기서 ‘be on another line’은 ‘다른 사람과 통화중’이라는 의미이다. 참고로, ‘잠시 기다려 주세요.’는 ‘Can you please hold?’ 또는 ‘Hold on, please.’라고 말할 수 있다.
