文대통령, UN 사무총장 재선 축하..."글로벌 위기 대응 협력"

20일 SNS로 축하 인사 전해

[파이낸셜뉴스] 문재인 대통령은 20일 안토니오 구테레쉬 유엔(UN) 사무총장의 재선을 축하했다.

문 대통령은 이날 사회관계망서비스(SNS)에 올린 글을 통해 "구테레쉬 사무총장님. 콘월에서 인사를 나눈지 며칠 만에 축하를 전하게 되어 기쁘다"며 축하 인사를 전했다.

문 대통령은 "유엔 사무총장 재선을 진심으로 축하드리며 한반도의 항구적 평화와 감염병, 기후변화 등 글로벌 위기 대응을 위해 앞으로도 사무총장님과 긴밀하게 협력하겠다"며 "한국은 한반도는 물론 전세계의 평화와 번영을 위한 여정에 늘 유엔과 함께해 나갈 것"이라고 약속했다.

문 대통령은 영어로도 같은 내용의 메시지를 남겼다.

앞서 지난 18일(현지시간) 열린 UN 총회에서 구테레쉬 사무총장의 연임 추천 결의안이 가결됐다. 구테레쉬 사무총장은 오는 2022년 1월부터 5년의 새 임기를 시작한다.

Secretary-General Guterres, I am pleased to send you this congratulatory message shortly after we met in Cornwall. My heartfelt congratulations on your reelection for the Secretary-General of the UN and I will closely work with you to build permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula and to tackle global challenges including COVID-19 pandemic and climate change. Korea will continue to stand with the UN on our journey toward peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and the entire world.
