Blockchain experts called for balance between transparency and privacy.

At the Korea Blockchain Week(KBW2019)’s main conference in South Korea held in Seoul, Oct. 1, panelists discussed on 'data sovereignty and DID' and agree that with so much individual data, it has become possible to solve various social problems. They said information should be properly disclosed and encrypting everything and keeping it private can’t solve the problem.

Panelists were Justin Park, CEO of Metadium and the moderator of the discussion, Brittany Kaiser, founder of DATA, Xan Ditkoff Blockstack, production partner of BlockStack, and Caroline Malcolm, head of the OECD Blockchain Policy Center.

"It is important to educate children on what user platforms mean and what it means to use devices. We should make sure that children know how to protect their data,” said Kaiser.

Ditkoff expressed a similar opinion. "Education is necessary in terms of users to achieve results. To take advantage of these ecosystems, we need to understand the solutions and their value using technology,” he said.

Caroline Malcolm said DID (Decentralized ID) is a new concept for a centralized government. “We are looking at the social and economic ripple effects of DID, as well as how it affects businesses and individuals."
