(서울=연합뉴스) 이영호 기자 = 잉글랜드 프로축구 프리미어리그(EPL) 맨체스터 시티(이하 맨시티)가 브라이턴 앤드 호브 앨비언을 대파하고 선두 아스널에 바짝 따라붙었다.

맨시티는 26일(한국시간) 영국 브라이턴의 아메리칸 익스프레스 스타디움에서 열린 브라이턴과의 2023-2024 EPL 29라운드 순연 경기에서 멀티 골을 작성한 필 포든의 활약을 앞세워 4-0으로 이겼다.

정규리그에서 최근 4연승에 18경기 무패 행진(14승 4무)을 이어간 맨시티는 승점 76을 기록, 한 경기를 더 치른 선두 아스널(승점 77)을 승점 1차로 추격하며 2위에 랭크됐다.

전반 17분 케빈 더브라위너의 헤더 결승 골로 앞서 나간 맨시티는 전반 26분 포든의 프리킥 득점으로 추가 골을 넣으며 한발짝 더 달아났다.

포든은 후반 34분 또다시 골 맛을 보며 자신의 멀티골을 완성했고, 전반에만 3골을 쏟아낸 맨시티는 일찌감치 승기를 굳혔다.
